Over the next few weeks, I’ll be providing educational information in our blog about the benefits of using Borate treatments for your inground swimming pools and above ground swimming pools. Having been involved with the swimming pool industry for the better part of 20 years, it’s not often that I come across a new product that truly impresses me. Over the last couple of years however I have started using a new product that does what it says and more, and that product is Borate.
It is a mineral that has many uses in both commercial and residential applications; it’s an ingredient in medicines, cosmetics, ceramics and building materials in addition to being used as a laundry detergent booster in the home (e.g. Borax 20 Mule Team). They are found primarily in dried lakebeds where they are removed, cleaned and packaged for use.
Some of the benefits of using Borates in your pools are:
- Borate only needs to be added to the pool water once in the Spring
- Great pH buffering agent
- Less algae growth
- Water feels like silk
- Save on electricity – run your pump filter less
We strongly believe in the benefits of using Borates in pools.
