Pool Closing:
- Remove all ladders, fittings, and rails, and store on the property if requested.
- Spray clean filter cartridges and inspect for any wear and tear.
- Backwash sand and DE filters (this does not include the pressure washing of DE filters or sand replacement).
- Drain and winterize pumps, filter, separation tank, and heater.
- Remove all fittings, blow out, and plug all circulation lines.
- Remove salt cell and store either in pool shed or near pool.
- Pump and heater drain plugs will be left in the pump basket to easily access during opening unless instructed otherwise.
- Add standard dosage 12.5% liquid sodium hypochlorite shock, winter algaecide, and pool line antifreeze for up to 30,000 gallons.
- Pools with a capacity of over 30,000 gallons may incur additional chemical fees.
- Properly install a mesh safety cover or a solid cover. For solid covers, hose-fill owner’s water bags.
- Service does not include the disassembly and storage of pump and filter system, this service is performed by request only.
- If additional water bags, a solid cover, or any other winterizing equipment is needed, the customer is responsible for the cost of these supplies.
- If new anchors or lawn tubes are needed to be drilled for a safety cover to be secured properly, customer will be charged $25 per drilled anchor or lawn tube plus the cost of materials.
- Make notes on the invoice of any concerning issues with the pool, water quality, and/or pool equipment.
Note:
Additional water features, such as separate pumps, waterfalls, etc., may generate an additional charge of up to $50 per feature. These closing prices include all services stated above. Please advise which pool-closing category to use when scheduling your service.
Customers may cancel their appointment at any time prior to our arrival. A service charge of $195 will be invoiced to the customer if closing is canceled after our arrival on the property on the scheduled service date.
Customer’s Responsibilities at and after Closing:
- Customers must ensure that pool water is clear and chemically balanced prior to our arrival.
- All winterization materials (plugs, “Gizzmos,” cover, water bags, etc.) must be left in an accessible location.
- If service technicians determine that customers’ winterizing materials are either damaged or would not provide effective protection from winter damage, new materials will be installed and charged to the customer.
- If The Swimming Pool Store cannot easily locate these materials, customers will receive and be charged for new materials.
- Customers shall ensure that a reliable and accessible source of electric power is available prior to our arrival. If there is no reliable and visible source of power, the closing must be rescheduled.
- Customers must not let more than 2” – 3” of water accumulate on solid covers during the period that the pool remains closed.
- The Swimming Pool Store is not responsible for any damage done by covers that collapse due to excessive water, ice, snow, or debris accumulating after the closing.
- Customers are advised to monitor their pool for any winter damage and call with any issues or concerns.
- If any part or piece of equipment that is essential for closing the pool (o-rings, gaskets, plugs, pumps, filters, etc.) is not easily accessible upon our arrival, we may not be able to get the pool closed properly, and any return visit will incur a $190/hr service charge.
- The Swimming Pool Store is not responsible for any damage done to heater parts or other equipment by rodents or other animals. We advise our customers to monitor their pool equipment at regular intervals during the winter (e.g., monthly) for signs of animal activity, weather-related damage, or other sources of damage.
- If a customer requires any equipment to be stored inside during the winter, please advise when scheduling the closing.
- We are unable to store electric heat pumps, or any gas heaters which are not disconnected from the gas line prior to our arrival.
- Customer understands that a pool closing does not include the restoration or repair of issues with the pool’s or property’s existing construction, landscaping, plumbing lines, or equipment.
- If the pool cover is not securable due to lack of water bags for a solid cover or anchors for a safety cover, additional charges may be incurred if we are to supply the water bags.
- The Swimming Pool Store will inform the customer if their cover is in damaged condition, but is not responsible for any damage resulting from covers that are in need of repair or replacement.
Billing:
- Customers will receive an invoice for the services usually within 24 hours of completion.
- The customer must submit payment in full upon receiving the invoice.
- After 30 days and for each successive 30-day period, late fees of 1.5% per month will be added to the invoice total.
- Failure to pay the invoice in full within six months will result in the submission of the invoice to a collections agency or legal action.
